"We, the women of Maggies, strive to be strong women of character, and to be catalysts for positive change that evoke, cultivate, and pursue diverse passions. We inspire and challenge one another to be the best versions of ourselves. It is our mission then to impact our community, equipping others with the same self-efficacy that has taught us that we are not just here, but here for a purpose."

LEADERSHIP

“Being a woman in leadership can sound intimidating; heavy with expectations, pressure, and the fear of getting it wrong. Before joining, leadership felt like something reserved for resume-building and the steps to success. Through Maggies, I’ve learned to see leadership through a completely different lens, one that feels more human, more honest, and more meaningful. One of the most challenging yet beautiful realizations I’ve made is that true leadership isn’t rooted in control or authority, but in natural influence. Leadership lives in the everyday moments; the way we show up for one another, the way we listen, and the way we choose to lead our actions with intention. Whether it was my miga or a fellow Maggie, the women around me influenced my growth without ever trying to, all they asked was that I show up as the truest version of myself. Their strength, kindness, and authenticity quietly shaped the leader I am growing into to this day. Maggies has shown me that leadership doesn’t require a title or power over others. It requires love, empathy, vulnerability, and the courage to be fully yourself. By leading with authenticity and passion, I learned that impact comes from connection, not perfection. Some of my greatest growth came from the bumps and falls along the way, and Maggies gave me the space to stumble, learn, and grow stronger because of it. Looking back on my two years in Maggies, I am incredibly grateful, not just for the leadership skills I’ve gained, but for the woman I’ve become. I now see leadership as something we all carry within us, shaped by the community that supports us. Maggies didn’t just teach me how to lead; it taught me how to become a woman in leadership.”

SISTERHOOD

“If Maggies has taught me anything about sisterhood, it’s the beauty of knowing each other as well as you know yourself. Each Maggie has their own unique story to tell, and dreams they want to bring to reality. The feeling of being noticed and remembered by the people I admire is unrivaled to any other. Like, what do you mean you remembered what I ate 3 weeks ago, I don’t even remember that! But it’s not just about recalling stuff we’ve done, but also retaining what makes us happy, what makes us uncomfortable, what drives our passions, and what we aspire to be. The relationships that the women of Maggies build with each other are the definition of intentional. Magz constantly challenge each other to push the boundaries of what it means to be your best self. Magztown is a place that fosters deep introspection— a level of self-enrichment I’ve never experienced anywhere else but has undeniably built the foundation of who I am today, and how I can support growth in other people like Maggies has done for me..”

COMMITMENT

“Commitment is giving yourself the time, patience, and dedication to fully invest in something that can give back. What stands out about Maggies is that each woman is wholeheartedly committed to one another. Everyone leads a different life, facing their own unique challenges each day, which can make it difficult to stay present and connected, but a Maggie makes it a point to consistently reach out. I had never felt so appreciated by a group of women, and that is no surprise, it is a direct result of their devotion. Being surrounded by women who give themselves to others so willingly makes it easy to commit to one another in return.”

OUTREACH

“Reaching out to people nowadays is easy. A text suffices 95% of the time, and responses come quickly without much thought. The texts we get are simple, one sentence, rarely filled with care or concern. The first text I ever received from a Maggie said, essentially, “I loved meeting you and want to know your story. Let me know when you are free, and we can grab a coffee.” Before this organization, no one had ever reached out to me and asked about my story; about my life. Within Maggies, this is a more common occurrence than I ever believed possible. The connections resulting from this intentional communication are the deepest, most meaningful I have ever experienced. There are so many opportunities to meet the most beautiful souls within Maggies. Each woman has a unique story that drives them every day, and Maggies gives us all a place to share that story, reaching out and touching the hearts of each member. Within the community of Texas A&M, the community of Maggies is the one that pushes me to be my best every day. I have never been part of a group so eager and willing to check up on each other, hang out, or bridge new connections. Each text, each event, and each Maggie is so thoughtful and intentional with their efforts to reach out. Maggies is more than a community; Maggies is home. A home filled with the most intentional and kind women I have ever met.”

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

“As silly as it sounds, I thought I was essentially done learning who I was by the time I turned 18. I had lived by myself for a year, found out how to balance my time, and experienced important life lessons - which I now know were only the beginning. Joining a room full of girls as unique as Maggies, it is incredibly hard to miss the striking sense of self each person in that room possesses. At first, it was intimidating. How do I approach someone who seems to have themselves figured out so well? I slowly learned that personal growth is a process that comes in waves. Sometimes, you don’t even notice the small amount of change that seeps into your life. Other times, you are put in a situation where it can feel uncomfortable. Over time, I realized that no one really has it all figured out, even those that seem like they do - our story here in Maggies and beyond is merely a series of events that allows us to learn from ourselves and each other to transform into the best version of ourselves.”

SERVICE

“Service!!! My perspective on service has grown so much since joining Maggies. Many of my service experiences preceding this organization felt transactional– involving my money or labor– and while that has its place, I’ve learned that service is so much more. Rather than a requirement or a chore, service is an expression of human care and connection. What a beautiful reminder it is that service is within us, resembled in our every interaction and intention. Maggies embraces the connections built through serving others, serving together, serving each other, and serving ourselves. As a Maggie, service is a choice I make each day in my thoughts, perspectives, words, and actions. It is a declaration of understanding and empathy for others, and ourselves, because in the end we are all human, we are all living life for the first time, and we are all deserving of love, grace, and a serving heart.”
